Alejandro’s paternal grandfather was Rafael Adolfo Nones y Gil (the son of Rafael Nones del Valle and Concepción Gil Rivera). Alejandro’s grandfather Rafael was born in Puerto Rico. Alejandro’s great-grandfather Rafael was the son of Caballero Gran Cruz Adolphe Nones Isaacson, who was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, to a Jewish family, from France and England; and of Rafaela Odilia del Valle Rodriguez. Concepción was the daughter of Manuel María Josef Gil de Reboleño y Sanchez, of El Tejo, Santander, Cantabria, Spain, and of Juana Saturnina Rivera y Gonzalez.
Alejandro’s paternal grandmother was Victoria Lara Ledezma (the daughter of Ernesto Lara Núñez and María Ledezma). Ernesto was the son of Alejandro Lara Buttó and Vicenta Núñez Römberg.
