Evander Kane is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He plays as a left winger for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League.
Evander is the son of Sheri and Perry Kane. His parents were collegiate athletes, his father an amateur hockey player and boxer, and his mother a volleyball player at the University of Calgary. His father is African-Canadian, from the Black Nova Scotian community. His mother is white. Evander was raised in East Vancouver. He has a daughter with his former wife.
His uncle, Leonard Kane, is in the Canadian Ball Hockey Hall of Fame. He is also a cousin of football player and politician Dwayne Provo and professional boxer Kirk Johnson.
He is named after boxer Evander Holyfield.
